Make a set of pretty, punched paper luminary lanterns with these free paper lantern cut files for die cutting machines like the Silhouette Cameo or Cricut Maker.
Don’t own a die cutting machine? No problem! With a little patience, you can use the included hand cutting files to cut the lanterns the old fashioned way – with just a craft knife.
These lanterns are perfectly sized for votive candles, and look great on a mantle. You can also use a group of them as an inexpensive table centrepiece!
The instant download includes SVG files, PNG files for use with cutting machines like Silhouette and Cricut, and PNG files for traditional, manual hand cutting. Each format of cut files includes a lantern with no base, 1 inch base, 2 inch base and 3 inch base.
Consider using flameless candles with these paper lanterns. If you choose to use these with real candles, please be careful! Never leave candles burning unattended. As with any paper lantern, the paper could potentially ignite and cause a fire.
How Do I Use These Free Paper Lantern Cut Files?
They are fairly self explanatory, but if you need some help, don’t worry!
You can find the full, step by step project instructions here!
What Size are These Lanterns?
The files are intended to be cut to a width of 10 inches, or 25 cm.
When cut at this size, the finished lanterns will be about 3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter and 4 to 8 inches (10-20 cm) tall, depending on which base height you choose. At this size, the lanterns fit a votive sized candle nicely.
If you want to scale them up or down to make bigger lanterns, no problem. The images are high enough resolution to resize. You can make them big enough for pillar candles, or small enough for tea lights. The limit is really just what your machine can handle cutting.
Can I Sell These Lanterns?
No, sorry. These cutting files are for personal use only. You can make them for friends and family, but please do not sell them.
If you’d like to create your own cut files, you can definitely do that. You can then sell lanterns made from your own files.
You can purchase a small business license for the images used to create these files here.
